You didnt say if it was a hydro or manual tranny. They all have the same Tecumseh HH120 under the hood but heres the model numbers so you can figure out the year if your model number tag is intact.

 1-0495 1974 C Series Garden Tractor C-120 Automatic Tecumseh HH120-120180D

 1-0357 1975 C Series Garden Tractor C-120 8-Speed Tecumseh HH120-120180D

 1-0375 1975 C Series Garden Tractor C-120 8-Speed Tecumseh HH120-120180D

C-diesel, I have a 1975 C-120 special and my engine is a Tecumseh HH120. Mine has model# 120180E and serial # 5059E stamped on the top of the sheet metal shroud that goes from to top of the head around the flywheel. Check yours in that spot. If the shroud is missing, send me some pics and I will see if it looks like mine. BTW the Tecumseh manual is still available for this engine. GeoC-120

I think the 1-0357 used spec number 120180D with a 10 amp stator and

the 1-0375 used spec number 120180E with a 20 amp stator.

Have recorded five 1-0375 serial numbers 133367 thru 133675 produced in a single batch so far.

What is your model and serial number?

Garry

133636 is what is below the model number 1-0375 hope that helps...it's an E I can see it on the shroud...she blows a lot of blue but am working on cleaning the breather plate...just changed the oil, new plug and fuel filter, as well as a clean air filter...also ordered a pulse fuel pump off ebay for $22 I think 35800 newer style....I will probably have to buy a new breather eventually...starts great with plenty of compression

I have one that needs some work and haven't got to yet. It's Serial # 133663 and looks to be all original. Tecumseh is a HH-120 120180D. Pretty much any thing would fit from the same time frame. I read somewhere that the only reason there is a Special is that W/H had trouble getting Kohler K-301's so they made these with the Tecky.

My tractor currently has a 13 hp Honda clone in it but it's getting a k301 as soon as I buy an oil pan

Any pics of your tractor?

Not bad for $250 and it runs....although it blows oil and smokes like a bugger...only blows oil on start up after sitting...possibly stuck rings?

If I'm not mistaken if you get a wheel horse kohler it's a bolt in but the one I'm getting is out of a Deere and a wheel horse pan won't fit so Im putting a regular flat pan on it and building a mounting bracket

Also you have to watch the crank shaft size wheel horse uses 1 1/8" where as most new engines uses inch but a bushings can be had to make the gap
