Rim Back Spacing Question

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what the rim back-spacing was for the rear rims on the 300/400/500 series garden tractors?

Thanks!

Bill

That would depend on the tire size.

The 23 x 10.5 x 12 rims are 10" wide (bead to bead); i.e.: 6" front (outside) + 4" rear (backside).

Courtesy of Miller Tire:

HOW TO MEASURE WHEEL OFFSET… Offset is the distance between the mounting side of the center disc and the rim centerline. Positive offset is when the disc is on the outside of the centerline. Negative offset is when the disc is on the inside of the centerline.

As far as I know the 300/400/500 series kept the same minimum backspacing that many WH models have - 1.5". The late 520 10" rims are the hot ticket to outfit a variety of earlier WH tractors with wide tires but are hard to find. I found a set of 10" Cub rims with 1" backspacing for my project - close enough!
