Lauson H55B carb

Would anyone happen to have ever found a source of the carb rebuilding parts for an H55B on a suburban 550?   Or is there a suitable replacement that might fit decently?

I had my 550 running on almost full choke so I took to carb off and cleaned it in chem dip, now I cannot get it to do anything more than pop and fire a few times in a row.

The engine did sound really good before...

The last I knew Tulsaenginewarehouse had new after market carbs for

Tecke's for around fifty bucks. You really can't rebuild one for much less

and at that you still have an iffy carb.

This has an      Updraft    Tillison carb on it now. Clearance issues so I have read.

I think Joe papke reproduces them, but not for sure. Try another trip through the chemdip and blower out real good again, sound like you broke some crude loose but it didn't get completely clear.

There is really not much to go wrong with these is there?  Most simple carb I think I have ever seen.

What kind of shape is the throttle shaft in. that could explain the need for choke if its really loose.

It does seem a little loose. Seems to have a flood like condition where gas drips from bottom of carb very quickly if I choke too much and gas wets around the throttle shaft too.

Somebody else will chime in I am sure, but when you put it back together you may have got your float set to high. I think I would tear it back down and soak it overnight (at least) blow it out with a air gun or a can of carbcleaner with a straw so you can force a flow through all the orifices and see what happens. AND USE A NEW MOUNTING GASKET
