groundhog47 347 #1 Posted February 24, 2013 First: Did any WH after 1968 and before 1970 come with a magneto ignition, and am I correct in that it could be magneto and still have a "charge" stator under flywheel. Specific spec #47147c, which I is same as mine. Any help appreciated, Thanks
pfrederi 18,708 #2 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) Your 4147c had a breakerless ignition with a trigger and a unique coil. The stator had extra windings to power the coil. There were magneto 12hp Kohlers some had 3 amp stators some 10 amp some apparently no charging stator. Edited February 24, 2013 by pfrederi
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted February 24, 2013 I'm not sure if this is what you're trying to find out, but the "later" 1968 Raider / Charger / Electro 12 models had magneto ignition with a 10 amp alternator. (spec 47147b) It looks like this - except the ignition coil is still there :
groundhog47 347 #4 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) Your 4147c had a breakerless ignition with a trigger and a unique coil. The stator had extra windings to power the coil. There were magneto 12hp Kohlers some had 3 amp stators some 10 amp some apparently no charging stator. This particular one had breaker points and condenser, weird as no dipstick either. I didn't pop on it, but it ran good and had avail shippin'. I've been so exasperated tryin' to find stuff fi'g best check in here first. Oh well I mighta missed out, but thanks for input, I knew Kohler made magneto 10's with no dipstick, just never saw a 47147c without one. Thanks Terry and pfrederi. groundhog47 347 #5 Posted February 24, 2013 Do not know what is under flywheel Terry, but that answers question, I let it time out while tryin to make a bid decision because of dipstick and ? on charging stator. Oh well that's my story, Thanks I'm not sure if this is what you're trying to find out, but the "later" 1968 Raider / Charger / Electro 12 models had magneto ignition with a 10 amp alternator.
