Shuboxlover 474 #1 Posted February 22, 2013 Here's the deal... I have a 50" D tiller that works AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Even in my "mostly" clay soil, it tilled it up very nicely. Well.....a guy I know wants to buy it. He said he would give me $450 for it. I also have a 36" tiller for, say my 520, or C-160 BUT would I be as happy with the 36" when I've seen how good the D tiller can do? Opinions please....I don't really want to get rid of the D tiller because they are few and far between around here, but that's pretty good money I think! GlenPettit 1,714 #2 Posted February 22, 2013 Go by "your gut" feeling. If the D just makes you feel good using it, so much so that you even talk to it or have named it, then keep the tiler that goes with it. I think the quality of final work with the tiller should be equal with the 520 or C-160 (if you have the weight). That is a good price, but then the D-Tillers are few-and-far-between. Good luck making the decision. We've all been there.
Rock farmer 41 #3 Posted February 23, 2013 I'd hold on to the "D". It's probably the weight that makes it work well in your soil. Offer to go over and till his garden for a fee. That's what I'd do! Joe

baerpath 517 #5 Posted February 23, 2013 A C tiller can't keep upto a D tiller in my book. I've had C tillers there okay but a D tiller does a better job. Especially the one behind a D 250 ! I have 2 tillers for the D / C 195's neither is leaving anytime soon
Tim 97 #6 Posted February 23, 2013 keep the D tiller the C tillers work great but D attachments are hard to find if he's OFFERING $450 then you know it worth alot more

chrisd200(inactive) 55 #8 Posted March 4, 2013 I have a d200 and a d160 and have 50" tillers for both. I have also used the smaller tillers. I would highly recommend keeping the D tiller. While the smaller ones do a great job, you will really appreciate the size/weight of the larger tillers especially in clay. The tines are more aggressive on the D as well. I personally think $450 is low but just my opinion.
