Hmmmmm..........hate those oval shaped nipples.I usually heat the nipple red hot with oxy-acet. torch. Then as it's cooling, hit it with some PB Blaster,Kroil, etc and they usually back right out.I don't like hack sawing through the nipple wall because of the chance of cutting into the threads.Good luck.I think you'll get it out,no problem.

Kevbo,

Here's the post that I read and used this method......"collapsing the nipple" with a cold chisel. It worked great. I stuffed a small rag in the exhaust port to keep out any debris during the pounding, etc. A deadblow is ideal, but of course any will work.

Good luck....

I just did one of these "oval" nipples last week. Should have started with the hacksaw in the first place.

Cut it 1/4" to 1/2" from the block, then collapse it with a chisel or drift pin. No matter how hard it is to get out by using a pipe wrench, you will be amazed at how simple it is to get out using the saw and chisel.

i have never tryed to cut and get them out like that but i have had good luck with heat.I would heat up cherry red then try to back it out. try to heat the by the block so the nipple dosent get hot and crush more.

I cut it 1/2" from the thread and after trying to bend it in I used a pipe wrench and another long pipe for leverage.

Glad you got it out.

When I have to get rough with an exhaust nipple, I like to use a pipe tap with some grease on it and run the tap in to clean up the threads. The grease is to hold the cuttings so they aren't pushed into the exhaust port.
