MalMac 1,332 #1 Posted February 16, 2013 Did the K series come with Stellite valves? and are these valves really that much better to warrant the price difference? Also I guess I'll be brave here and ask just what really is the difference in the two types of valves I am assuming one will take heat better than the other. One other question, which one runs better with unleaded gas? Rebuilt several Kohler's and never really gave it much thought. This time when ordering parts I was asked which type I wanted. Anglo Traction 761 #2 Posted February 16, 2013 Not all K301 Engines were specified Stellite Valves and there is no real reason why. I find one spec number engine that specifies it and another of the same year not specifying it?. I had the same query a while back......... It appears to be only for durability. Wheel-N-It 2,976 #3 Posted February 16, 2013 I think the stellite valves are better able to hold up under the high heat tempetures an exhaust valve will have to endure. I have heard of cases where when both valves are replaced, the engine rebuilder will use a stellite exhaust valve and a non stellite intake valve.
