GT-14 Anyone have one?

Recommended Posts

Raider12

I have seen a few of the GT-14 tractors over the summer. And from the looks these are a bigger chassie than those such as my Raidar 12 and similar models. Are do these tractors stack up against the rest? Anyone have one that can share some input? Thanks

 I Have never seen one, but it was the first "bigger" tractor WH made. Bigger than what? Bigger in terms of features versus the C series (or its predecessors) , for example.

I await the opportunity to learn more B) B)

I am a lttle partial to the GT14. It was Wheel Horses first true large tractor.

It was and still is a very capable piece of equipment. Although it does have a few qwirks mostly the hydro control( harder than the rest to use) and a large turning radius, and the orginal muffler tended to melt the gas tank B) . In my opinion more durable than the D's ( fewer mechanicial problems) and with it size more capable the the C's exept the C195.

Once you own one of these beasts you"ll understand what I mean. I currently have 4 GT14's a 195 and 2 160's.( and yes I've had a D)The loader GT14 gets the most use of all them.

Truely a great tractor!

Teddy, There's not much there my friend as I am just learning. I look to my buddies Steve (Refracman) and our good friend Carl who has been wrenching on these machines since the late 60's. Good Luck Burly B)

I have a GT-14 that I am restoring and a 520HC to compare it to. The GT-14 is a monster in that it has a cast iron nose, large tires (rear) and a true cat "0" hitch system. The amount of metal WH used on them is incredible and makes the GT-14 worthy of restoration. I like that even in 73 WH had a fan on the Hydro and a filter on the tranny. On top of it all my GT-14 seems bigger than than my 520 HC and handles more like a tractor than the HC. Truly a unique machine!
