I had a good time today!

Recently I installed a Kwik-Way front end loader (FEL) on one of our Wheel Horse tractors.

Today was the first day I could "play" with this set-up. I had a ball.

I've never owned a tractor of any size with a loader. This is all new. My reason for the FEL installation was to manage snow. We live in a very snowy part of the USA. For example, from Sunday 8pm thru Monday 10pm we received 31" of new snow -- NO Exaggeration.

On a day to day basis we manage snow with our Wheel Horse tractor/snowblower as well as a pick-up with a Fisher plow. I wanted a small loader to "stack" the snow from time to time. Today was the first day where I felt the conditions were right. I spent 90 minutes on the machine cutting snow banks, moving snow from left to right and then back again, to get a feel for how to operate this set-up. I learned a lot and feel a newbie's level of comfort with this machine.

Perhaps in our snowy territory some would suggest a larger machine would be more efficient. To be frank, prior to today I've been second guessing whether this Kwik-Way set-up is up to the task. I'm still considering my options while keeping an open mind. My first impression is positive.

Forgive me if this post sounds boastful. I just wanted to share this experience and I bet many of you will understand.

Sounds like you had fun! I used my neighbors WH loader last summer for some yard work and it was fun as heck to operate.

How much weight did ya have use to get it to maintain traction?

Great feelin' being able to move snow with a loader. Lucky you.

A loader is on my "wish" list, for the future after I finish restoring

the '90 520-8 recently picked up.

Thirty-one inches is a lot of snow! :-)

I'm guessing your near Fulton? I was watching the Syracuse news and saw the dark blue bands on the radar and said "OH BABY!" moving snow is a lot of fun with a loader. Plowing it along isn't great but moving the piles is! :)
