400xt deck - will it fit a 314-8

Can a 400xt series 42 or 48 inch deck fit a 314-8 tractor?

bill my 42 inch xt deck is bigger then the 417A 42 inch deck so i cant fit my xt deck on the 417A

Hmm, the 48" shell on my 03 417XT is the same but I think the hanger is a little different in the positioning of the deck but looks just like the other hangers.

When I tried putting my XT deck on the 76 160 the 160's belt was to long. I never did look into getting a belt but if I remember right it was only a inch or two too long.

It sounds like the 42" 03 deck is the same as 1990 - 2002 260/ 270 series and they went back to the original 48" style in 03.

I'm wondering if the shell, spindles and everything except the hardware that hangs the deck to the tractor are the same. If that's the only difference, I've got a set of deck hardware I could use. Can you guys post a picture of the xt deck you have if it ain't to much trouble? Also, would you have a deck model number?

i went to an auction that was a dealer sell out. i bought a new in the box deck for i think about $250.00 thought it was a classic till after the hammer drop. so i brought it home to a friends house and took it out of the box and look at it and decided all we needed to do was to swap the quick attach bar from a classic and put it up under his 520 and it looked ok. i ended up swapping him the new deck for a real good used deck and some other stuff. so to answer your question change the bar and it should work. i am sorry that i swapped it away now but you live and learn, hopefully

After you guys fit the deck-up with the quick attach bar, fast forward, is your friend using the deck and everything is ok? Any belt change required, is the center pulley the same?

i am pretty sure we didn't change any thing else and that we used the regular belt for a 48" sd deck. he put the deck on the self and wants close to 1 g for it

That's a pretty high price. Sometimes I see decks going for big bucks and maybe they are worth the price. I have also priced new old stock 42 and 48 inch decks - over $1000 easily. You can buy a few older Wheelhorse tractors with decent decks along for the ride with that kind of $$$'s.
