flytalk 2 #1 Posted January 23, 2013 Hi Folks I have a 78 c121 with a Kohler k301as in it,i have just bought a k301s i know the" as" has a special shallow sump.If i wanted to put the "s" in my c121 would i just change the sumps and the connecting rod off the as engine.Any advise would be great,thanks. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted January 23, 2013 This has been discussed elsewhere on the forum, but the bottom line is no, the oil pans will not interchange. I would remove the isolation cradle mounting blocks and bolt the replacement engine directly to the frame. If the replacement engine did not come from a Wheel Horse, you will need to sort out a way of securing the PTO side of the pan to the frame. WH-spec pans were drilled & tapped for the mounting bolts to go up through the frame and into the pan from the bottom - but only on the right side. One option is to use "J" bolts that hook over the bottom lip of the frame rail. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
