The BIG race

Recommended Posts

nylyon

Well, it was destined to happen. Here's the lineup...

Dad (me, nylyon) on a 1997 314-8 with a mere 93 hours! on the clock

Brittany (daughter, Brittany 9 in September) on a 1994 416-H with heck I don't know let's say 370 hours on it.

The challenge, which is faster, an 8-speed or Hydro? I would say power wise they're equal, the Hydro takes at least 2 HP more to run than an 8-speed.

Who will win?

Megan was the photographer, and Brittany was slow to start off..... Let's go to the video tape....

Well Eldon, you did say I could use it, bet you didn't think I was going to race it.... :horseplay:

Well, no video this time, but we just had a rematch. This time I took the 416-H but Brittany chose the C-160.

Wanna guess who wins this time?

Let me tell you one thing about the C-160, I believe it is over revving, so I would only let B go to 3/4 throttle. At 3/4 throttle, it is a tie they are exactly the same speed. I had her crank it up a little and the C-160 cruised right by the 416 with ease.

Now of course I have to adjust the C-160 so it doesn't over rev (I don't have a single cyl tach though)

Next race will be..... Brittany on the C-160 FULL Throttle, dad on a 1987 300ZX Turbo B)

That 314 would probably be a lot faster if you would install a......

MULE DRIVE ! :horseplay:

It doesn't appear to have EVER had one, there is no scratches where the MULE drive would go. The pullies on the PTO have NO belt wear on them either. This 314 has never had an attachment on it aside from a trailer. How cool is that?

That is  , Karl!

I know where there is a 701 that never had anything but a dozer blade mounted on it since 1961. B) It has a few more hours on it though!

Grandpop's 550 never had anything used with it but a wagon and a drop spreader!

But we did load up that wagon with lots of rocks - more than once.

Nope they're the same as the 416 16x6.50-8's Turf Trac R/S 2-ply (416 has 4-ply) The rears are the same too 23x9.50-12 on both.

No the tractor is Eldon's, it's a very low hour (well not as low anymore B) ) 1997 314-8. The previous owner is moving next week, so I picked it up for him today. It's really a SOLID machine, and I really like the newer style steering wheel, much thicker and super easy to turn. I think that I'm going to miss this one when he comes to get it.

Karl,

I'm going have to wait until Monday to watch the videos, so for now I won't read the other posts so it won't spoil it for me Monday. It's like taping the big game and avoiding Sports Center until you had the chance to watch it on tape. B)

The only problem with a rematch is Brittany is getting better while I am not. She has asked to do all the snow plowing this year. She's probably ready, not sure I am though :notworthy:
