12hp kohler starter bolt stripped out.

i have a starter bolt that has stripped out on my c-120 with 12hp kohler.

whats the best way to fix it.

if i heli coil it what size tap and insert do i need.

here's the c-120 it's on.

i believe it's a replacement engine.

if you go to your parts store they should have the proper drill bit,tap and insert. also the insert tool, best to follow the correct bit size, the heli coils dont usually come out but i have seen them jump a thread as they are inserted due to the wrong person putting them in, dont forget to break off the little tab after you get the coil in place,

well i didn't have to heli coil it.

i just chased the threads and used longer bolts with blue loctite.

they had short bolts in it. i think the one was loose and the torque from the starter just popped it out. only lost like 3 threads.
