Kevbo 81 #1 Posted December 22, 2012 So I just drained the oil out of a newly purchased C-81 and it looks rather greyish...any thoughts?
ben06351 19 #2 Posted December 22, 2012 Sounds like water in the oil.
AMC RULES 37,202 #3 Posted December 22, 2012 Was it shifting OK?
Kevbo 81 #4 Posted December 22, 2012 Yea no prob shifting. The engine to be honest runs super nice...I just don't understand the grey hue in the oil?
SPINJIM 1,986 #5 Posted December 22, 2012 Doesn't take much water in the oil to make it look gray. If it hadn't been run for awhile, it could just be from condensation with the changes in weather / temperature. Make sure your breather filter is good, and change the oil (10w-30 for this weather). Check the oil after a few hours of running, and see what you find. Jim
can whlvr 994 #6 Posted December 23, 2012 hopefully its not aluminum in the oil, after break in thats a relly bad thing to see in the oil,but ive had engine oil go bad from condensation, thats why the oil filler stick gets rusty at the top, even with all the oil it sees,so change the oil and keep your eye on it
Kelly 1,033 #7 Posted December 25, 2012 I've had engines with lots of condensation in them and had to change the oil 2 times to clean it out, cheaper than junking a engine running it with water in it.
