Sears 12" Rear Wheel Weights?

Recommended Posts

danjmah

Got these today ($34). PO said he bought them new from Sears back in the 70's. They are 24lbs each.

My question is; are they actually Sears and why aren't the centers the same pattern? I pointed this out to the PO and he said that is what Sears gave him.

These are simplicity / allis chalmers wheel weights, not sears. I have 4 pairs of them.

As for why they do not have the same notches on the center I havn't a clue.

They had to have patterns to cast the parts. From the weights you have all the patterns were not alike.

Pickup some new carriage bolts and a rattle can of RustOleum Regal Red.

They'll look fine. Good price too!

I would suspect that they were intended to be "stacked", two 24# weights on each side, those five sets of slots near the center snugged into each other; so that pair was for just one side (and, depends what the other side of your weights look like). A total of 45-50# per wheel was common for most manufacturers of weights. Also, we can only see one side of the tractor at-a-time.
