AKincer 6 #1 Posted December 9, 2012 I've been hanging around on the forum for a while since I bought a 1982 C-125 with a Kohler 301 engine. I've learned a lot and found a number of great resources. I'm currently working on a carburetor rebuild. I was able to located the rebuild kit and have completed the teardown, cleaning, and reassembly of the carburetor. I was surprised to discover that the rebuild kit did not include the gasket the goes between the carburetor and the air filter assembly, nor did it include the gasket that goes between the carburetor and intake. Both of these items came off in pieces during disassembly. I've looked around to try and find the parts numbers for these items and I can't seem to come up with anything definitive. Does anybody know these part numbers and a good source to purchase these items? Thanks in advance for any help!
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted December 9, 2012 :WRS: Visit any OPE dealer with a KOHLER sign and they can get you the gaskets. You can look the parts up yourself at various online locations such as PartsTree: http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=kohler_engines&mh=132 ....or you can provide your local dealer with the model and spec number and they will get you the correct parts. whc160 80 #3 Posted December 9, 2012 I get alot of my parts from NAPA. They have their own line or can get Kolher if you want. Their prices are to bad either. I know the guys at my local NAPA real well & they even gave me a book to keep.
AKincer 6 #4 Posted December 9, 2012 Thanks guys for the tips. I did look at Parts Tree, but I was kind of confused by their diagram and couldn't determine conclusively what I needed. Never thought about NAPA. I like them and have used them for other parts in past for a motorhome. I will probably stop in there and see if they can help. Have you found that they have Kohler parts in stock, or do they normally need to be ordered?
whc160 80 #5 Posted December 9, 2012 My NAPA stocks alot of B&S parts. They have some of the Kolher parts I use one hand. Other parts they order in for me. Lucky for me their main warehouse is only 30 miles away. They get parts form the warehouse two times a day.
tunahead72 2,551 #6 Posted December 10, 2012 Ditto to what whc160 said. My local NAPA dealer usually has those carb gaskets in stock, definitely worth a phone call at least. And welcome to here! :WRS:
wallfish 18,194 #7 Posted December 10, 2012 Auto parts stores also sell a roll of gasket material to make your own
AKincer 6 #8 Posted December 11, 2012 Update: Tried the local NAPA and they were able to help me with right part numbers, but did not have the gaskets. I went to the local Kohler dealer and he only had 1 of the gaskets in stock - needed $10 is shipping to get the second gasket. He sent me to another local tractor dealer that is not listed as a Kohler dealer. They had the parts in stock. Reassembled the carb, fired up right away. Let it warm up then adjusted the Hi and Lo mixtures and it purrs like a kitten. I probably looked a little bit silly mowing at dusk last night in 30 degree weather. I just bought the house (and the Wheel Horse) and the previous owner left the grass a little tall for my liking so I wanted to get cut one last time before swithing the Wheel Horse over to the the snow blade. Grass is done - I will work on the snow blade later this week. Thanks to all for your help!
