Safety switches? All there and working properly?

Is there power to the ignition switch?

Are both ammeter wires connected?

How can I check the switches to see if they are good.

I followed the wiring diagram here on RS.

Do you have a multimeter or a test light?

I think I have a test light my brother left behind here at my place.

Use the test light to see if there is power to the "B" terminal at the ignition switch first.

Did you 'jump' the solenoid across the two large posts or did you apply power to the small post?

Make sure the breaker points are good and clean and set properly. Try cleaning them with emery cloth and see if that helps.

It wasn't spark 'fire'...... it was electrically dead at the switch.

Unfortunately while we were conversing over the phone, we came to realize that a new test light doesn't mean a working test light. :eusa-whistle:

I just instinctively test the test light across the battery terminals before I do anything else.

I must have wasted enough time with a bad test light sometime in my past!
