Unusual looking 42 inch Wheel Horse Plow -What Model Is it ??

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

My brother bought a 1963 Wheel Horse yesterday but the seller wanted to keep his plow.

It is one I have never seen before at a show, online or in a photo.

It is on a 1963 633 tractor, I think it may be original to the tractor.

It is a 42 inch plow, with two skid feet at the rear of the plow. The frame is the three sided angle iron but smaller than the traditonal snowplow frames. The rear of the frame does not have a 3/4 inch round bar but it does have two angle iron pieces like those used in the early rear transmission plow/tiller hitches but it is welded on to the end of the plow frame. Looks original.

The front has a solid flat piece of steel in the middle of the frame that is used to move the spring loaded into the housing that allows you to angle the blade.

The handle witha knob that moved the blade is on the right and shorter than those on later plow frames.

If anyone knows of this version, the model number or any othe details please post for all Red Square members!

I believe TT mentioned in another thread that it is a 1962...I have 2 of them but I haven't checked them for a model number. I got one on my 502 and 552 and these are both from 1962.

Should be a BD-4262 or BD-4263

There's one for sale not too far from me:

Looks like from the model numbers that these were from either 1962 or 1963 correct?

Correct..... '64 should be the first year for the newer style angle lever.

Great looking Horse and plow setup!

I too like the foot pedal release. Somewhere I saw a video, operation of the plow's foot release.

An excellent piece of equipment.

Terry thank you I knew you would know something about this one!

It is a very nice piece.

Thanks RYDOGG, KELLY and TANKMAN too.

This is a very nice operating piece of equipment and has some unique features that are long lasting too.

If anyone has a manual for this that they can send me a pdf of or post online in the Red Square Implements Manuals section I would appreciate it.

FYI

The manual is already in the Red Square files under Implements -Dozer Blades -which apparently there are 57 varieties listed!

So, by looking at the others pictured here...it looks like my blade angle control lever is supposed to have those two funky bends in it.

I'm now glad I never did find the time to straighten it out like I was going to. :scared-eek:
