Recommended Posts

Got this from a customer partial apart. He said no crank unless solenoid is jumped. Switched solenoids, it clicks but does not activate. If I push it closed starter cranks. When crank it over that way there is no spark. Please help. Thanx Jim

I selectively have very little experience with that style of machine, but I bet it's a safety switch issue. (PTO, parking brake, neutral etc.)

Thanx Terry. Yeah i tried and checked all the switches and got no change. There seem to be nothing activating the relay. With cover off relay, if I close it the starter will crank. Checked key switch and it is activating one of the other relays (4 total) which feeds the other relays but not starter relay. Don't have much hair left and am losing more on this one.

Have you checked the ground connections?

I'll have to see if I can dig up a schematic later. :handgestures-thumbup:

It looks like the PTO switch, brake switch, and the seat switch all need "made" to complete the start circuit:

I'm not good at explaining it by typing it out, but I could probably blast through it if it was here in front of me.

Same problem I had with my 269H. It was the PTO switch.

Thanx guys. Did find the 2 switches on pedel are 2 way switches, thinking for pto must be released on one to power other (you know what I mean). Have alot to do today and will double check your suggestions and use to diagram to trace things through. Appreciate all your help.

Some of the newer engines have low oil switches. Won't start with low oil or if the switch is bad.
