Torino 15 #1 Posted November 30, 2012 Cleaning the carb on my kt17 and got the carb back on and was cleaning up and found that I forgot to install the baffle in the carb. What does this do? Should I tear it down again and install?
smoreau 658 #2 Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) That's more of a issue on inclines and hills for the most part. I have found on some carbs for Kohlers I intently leave them out. Most of the time I put them in but on the rare accusation that I cant get it to run just wright, I will remove them. sorekiwi 761 #3 Posted December 1, 2012 I have a K181 on a Lawn Ranger here that is without the baffle. It runs fine 99% of the time, even on the slopes in my yard. But there is one spot where a drainage swale has sunk down a bit, the carb gets a gulp of extra fuel when I hit that and it coughs a bit over the bump. One day I'll get around to refitting it, but its been a couple of years without it now.
rmaynard 16,348 #4 Posted December 1, 2012 The carburetor on one of my B-100's does not have a baffle. I had a problem where the baffle got stiff and bowed down, keeping the float from rising completely. This caused the engine to flood because the float valve was not closing completely. I simply took out the baffle and had no further issues.
