grnlark 489 #1 Posted November 29, 2012 In the past I know there have been threads about U.S. guys helping UK guys get a tractor from one continent to the other. So, I'm wondering if any of you guys might be willing or able to help me out - even if it takes a little while, which I anticipate it might? I really want a Trojan tractor. I think the UK spelling is actually a trakator. I know these are very collectible over there and I know they are rare too. But I still want one I know the first challenge is going to be finding one, but I think the bigger more complicated challenge is having a connection over there to help me get it back to the U.S. Does anyone have any comments, thoughts, ideas or know of anyone that has one they might consider selling? Thanks in advance, Matt
Anglo Traction 761 #2 Posted November 30, 2012 Hi Matt, Well they crop up on the UK 'Bay of E' now and again. Not sure what the going rate has been for them or how long it will take to find one. Maybe our resident expert/owner Neil will stop by and give you some idea. As for trying to sort the transportation arrangements, I'm sure us Guys can do what we can for you. grnlark 489 #5 Posted November 30, 2012 Is that a reasonable price for one? Seems a bit crazy to me.
Lars 526 #6 Posted November 30, 2012 Is that a reasonable price for one? Seems a bit crazy to me. Matt.. i have no idea.. just found it on e-bay and passed the link to biser... i think it is way to much for a small tractor.... but it depends on how bad u want one, and what kinda shape u want it to be.. neil 2,410 #7 Posted November 30, 2012 Hi Matt The Trojan Toraktor was built in Croydon London in the late 50s early sixties, with only about 500 ever built , they are so rare over hear in Uk and can command quite high prices. I have seen them go at auction for £2.500 US in good running order . Although the one on the ebay at the moment looks to be to be in good order i dought if he would get that much for it ( But you never know ) . Thay are great little tractors that have Clinton 1290 engines bbut you dont find many with the original engines . I own three of these tractors & only one of these is in running order http://s1036.photobucket.com/albums/a448/neilhorse/trojan%20Toraktor/ If you manage to find one , i am sure we could help in getting it over to you as i have imported a few tractors from US and have a reliable company that does all the work , its actually quite easy but can work out a bit expensive. I have a good website that i can recommend that you visit and ask around to see if anyone is looking to sell one of their Trojans

marshallnut 0 #9 Posted March 11, 2013 I've got a Mk 3 toraktor I am thinking of selling if you're interested. I bought it about 13 years ago for my children to play on but they're a bit big for it now! It's been restored and has a running Clinton engine. The tyres a good. I'm in Somerset, England, not far from Niel it seems! Cheers Steve

Anglo Traction 761 #11 Posted March 11, 2013 Hi Steve (marshallnut). Welcome. I'm just wondering what thread pattern they used on these Tractors. Was it Whitworth and/or BSF or even UNF/C ?. I only ask for my own curiosity and...... IF the Tractor does go Stateside, it would be good to know for the new owner. They may be difficult to obtain there and a stock of common sizes could be sent with it.
marshallnut 0 #12 Posted March 11, 2013 I reckon it's UNF but I'd have to check
fireman 1,022 #13 Posted March 11, 2013 I can just see Matt drooling with that offer to buy it. Didn't even have to post any "Garden Tractors Wanted" ads on Craig's List!
grnlark 489 #14 Posted March 11, 2013 I can just see Matt drooling with that offer to buy it. Didn't even have to post any "Garden Tractors Wanted" ads on Craig's List! I've spent more money on tractors in the past six months than I have in the entire time I've collected them. Coincidentally, not one lead came from CL
fireman 1,022 #15 Posted March 12, 2013 I here ya about spending a lot lately. Last year when I bought the Senior, that one tractor probably cost me more than almost what I paid for all the others I have had. That's why I haven't added anything new except that $100 Craftsman.
