wire problem????????

Recommended Posts

I've been fixing up a B 81 wheel horse and confused about the starter switch wires

there's three one green, it's ground a red and white need to know which one throws power back to the battery. The 8Hr briggs had a crack block and I put 12.5 briggs

on it. the 12.5 briggs has two wires coming from the back beside the starter, and one

from the front and it's black. when the engine going the black throws more of a charge

than the red that's coming from behind starter. Need to know which wires to hook

together.

B)

The black wire from the "front" is the ignition ground wire from the Magnetron coil. Grounding this wire will "kill" the spark. (the original wire should have hooked to a terminal stud near the throttle control cable attachment point on the engine.)

The two leads coming from behind the starter are from the dual-circuit alternator located under the flywheel. Generally, the red wire is to be hooked to the battery POSITIVE terminal and the second wire (usually white) is A.C. power for the headlight circuit.

As far as the ignition switch goes.....

One wire is the starter solenoid trigger wire ( S ), one wire is power from the battery to the ignition switch ( B ), and the third wire goes to the terminal stud mentioned above. ( M )
