jgun45879 196 #1 Posted November 23, 2012 Hi, I have a 1988 310-8 that needs the carb. throttle shaft repaired. Where is the best place to buy a shaft re-bushing repair kit? Thanks for any help. Jim.
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted November 23, 2012 This is a cheap kit on ebay, here is the item no. 300746960478 or you can buy the kit from Kohler that has a new shaft and other parts but you have to drill the body out to use those kits.
whc160 80 #3 Posted November 23, 2012 NAPA sells the Kolher kit & they have a kit in the NAPA small engine line.
joel_400 59 #4 Posted November 23, 2012 I use bushings from lakota racing when I do them. I just remove the throttle arm from the shaft by grinding the peened over end off very carefully. Then the bushing slides down over the shaft and sits in the recessed area right below the throttle arm. Then comes the fun part...drilling the shaft. It really isnt bad though. Just drill and tap the shaft to hold the throttle arm back down. For most carb this does a wonderful job. Joel
Anglo Traction 761 #5 Posted November 23, 2012 Yeah, What Kelly says. Used them for the 3 that I've done. Save having to remove the Throttle Arm that Joel mentioned, but you need to be careful removing the old Throtte Plate Screws without breaking . There are several threads here on the practice.
