C-120 vs C-121 PTO clutch Innards

Recommended Posts

Can any one tell me why the PTO clutch bell has a thrust bearing, stud, and spring on the C-120 and a C-121 doesn't. The parts diagram may have left it out (SEPW). I assume the bell is assisted out by the spring as well as the hoop. My C-120 has the spring and thrust baering but no stud (as listed in parts book). Replaced all bell innards about twenty years ago and didn't find a stud but sping was a shambles. Last month lookede inside and spring appeared ok, maybe I overlooked the stud which I assume must fit into end of crankshaft. Anyway if I need the stud, Kelly do you have a spring, thrust bearing & washers, and stud?

Design change, it dose not need the spring and thrust bearing. Both will work with out it.

Yup, not needed. When I swapped an 8 hp for a 16 I had to get a couple parts due to the larger shaft but I didn't use the spring. I believe all it was intended for was to add more pressure to the PTO brake. I never thought much of that brake.

Well I am definetly releived. Perused through parts lists late last night and between 76,77,78, and 85, the only major variant was the clevis, pivot plate, and clutch rod and the fact they discontinued the afore mentioned parts.

Well now all I need are the other 400 parts and will have a complete WH (one piece at a time), no seriously sooner or later one and me will find each other, hay, hay, hay, fresh alfalpha.

Thanks all you guys, now will not have to get those other parts.
