posifour11 723 #1 Posted November 7, 2012 I'm thinking of using a lumbardini 401cc i bought recently to take the place of my k301 while I'm rebuilding it. It seems like quite an undertaking, but I was wondering if anyone out there had done it. The possible victim is a c-125. All input is appreciated. Don1977 604 #2 Posted November 7, 2012 I would not go to the trouble if you plan to change it back.
Kelly 1,028 #3 Posted November 7, 2012 I say put it in, you might not put the orig. back in, you might like it. .
baerpath 517 #4 Posted November 7, 2012 I'd try it, At 9hp at 3600 you will notice a differance. but diesels are torque not so much hp engines. Check the crank size to see if you need to change the clutch or not

posifour11 723 #7 Posted November 8, 2012 Baerpath saved me a lot of time. It's a 1 inch shaft. Guess this will be going in the MTD 990 project. It'll get plenty of use there. Thanks for the input folks.
Tgblanken 27 #8 Posted December 18, 2012 Yes it can be done. It is not a direct replacement. You will have to get a pulley from a 8hp kohler and you will have to fab up a PTO bracket. You will also need to drill new mounting holes to bolt the engine in the correct place. Is it worth it? Yes, plenty of power easy on the fuel and love the sound of the diesel barking.
