305 380 #1 Posted November 3, 2012 what is the difference between a vh60 and a h60? i see some parts like pistons and connecting rods are the same. is a VH60 worth considering for a Lawn Ranger?
rydogg 186 #2 Posted November 3, 2012 The VH60 is a vertical shaft engine and the H60 is a horizontal shaft...I believe a lot of the internals are the same though. My father has a VH60 in his John Deere 60 riding mower.
305 380 #3 Posted November 3, 2012 thanks for the reply....i always thought the V stood for vertical ..but that doesn't look like a vertical shaft engine to me , not with the way the fuel tank is mounted
rydogg 186 #4 Posted November 3, 2012 That shroud can be used on the vertical and horizontal shaft engine, the engine pictured looks to be a H60 that probably had the shroud swapped with a vertical shaft engine or maybe they misread the tag and it is a HH60
Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted November 3, 2012 The VH60 is a alum. block vert shaft, the H60 is the alum. block horiz. shaft, the HH60 is the cast iron horiz. shaft engine
