1969 Wheel Horse 700

Recommended Posts

I just found a un-restored Wheel Horse that the owner says is a 1969, but not sure. It's a model 700 with a deck, snowblower, original tires and the back wheels look like 50's car snow tires and cast iron weights. It's all original. Is a 700 a rare model? and what are they usually priced at?

Would be a Work Horse 700, and yes, 1969 is right. Not rare. Not really a sought after model among most collectors. Had a Tecumseh 7 HP, it was the last of that style hood and short frame with the "stirrup" style foot rests and would have had the 6x12 snow tire looking tires originally. Condition and location is really what can swing price. I'd think in the midwest, you'd probably see that priced for anywhere from $100-350 depending on how it's being marketed... obviously a snow thrower and cast iron wheel weights sweeten the deal. Out east, things tend to run a little higher.

I have one that only has a deck. I paid $200 for mine....It runs fine, but the govenor is messed up and won't rev up when a real load is put on the mover.

Typically you'll pay more for the deck, snowblower, and weights individually than you will for that tractor.

If you don't mind me asking...what is the price he's asking for the whole package?

I think the lack of respect Work Horse 700s get is because of the Tecumseh engine, which I can understand. But other than the motor their built just like most '60's WH's. I personally like the decals on the 700/500 tractors the best. I paid $200 for mine with a mower deck and a newer HM80 motor.

To Horse play: Yeah I do think it's probably the Techumseh engine. If I bought the 700, I'd just put a Briggs or Kohler on if it blew up. I've had a techumseh blow up on a snowblower. I have 2 Techumsehs from the 90's that still run fine, but im just waiting for them to blow up.

I have a "how to" thread coming soon for anyone who wants power rear disc brakes, LOL. That was from when I was swapping to rear disc on my Mustang.

That's the way I've looked at it too. The only thing I've invested in this mid '90's Tecie is a $15 carb kit. So if it blows up I'd like to find a nice e-start Kohler that would be right at home on a WH. Does the one you're looking at still have the original H70?
