Butch 194 #1 Posted October 22, 2012 Doing some electrical work. Replaced the seat switch. After starting the tractor it then died. It won't turn over. Nothing. So I'm thinking it is the pedal switch. Where is it located and how easy is it to reach? I replaced the seat switch because activating the PTO would kill the engine. I never got a chance to test the new switch. One other area of concern is the headlights. When I put the ignition to on and flip on the lights there is nothing. Turning the key and the lights on should activate the lights. No blown fuses. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Butch 194 #2 Posted October 22, 2012 Found the PTO switch. It was shot. Glad I bought 2 switches. They're the same. Getting the nut on is gonna be a real SOB. I already crushed a finger with the PTO lever. Still haven't found the pedal switch yet.
rmaynard 16,200 #3 Posted October 22, 2012 Seems to me that the pedal switch on my neighbors C-81 was on the opposite side, behind the idler arm.
Don1977 604 #4 Posted October 22, 2012 I look at the electrical drawings and you have 4 safety switches PTO, clutch, seat, and transmission shifter. The clutch switch has 5 wires doing to it, not the same switch as the PTO. The wiring come off the drawing on the other side from the clutch as said above. Butch 194 #5 Posted October 22, 2012 Don I bought the clutch pedal switch. It looks more like a rocker switch. I just haven't found the location yet. The PTO and seat switches are the same switch. I put a meter on them and both were bad. That seemed kind of odd that both would be bad. So I tested a new one. The new one was fine. I was having intermittent problems with the engine dying. So I guess that both switches were going. I didn't know that the transmission had 2 switches also. I'll have to take a look at the drawing. Thanks. Thanks Bob. It's too dark now but tomorrow I'll look in that area.
Sparky-(Admin) 22,865 #6 Posted October 22, 2012 I think you can see the clutch switch thru the shift lever slots. Or just remove the shift lever plate and it should be on the same side as the drive belt. Its activated by the idler pulley mechanism pushing the switch. Mike........ Butch 194 #8 Posted October 23, 2012 Couldn't get to the pedal switch. Shifter plate has phillips heads screws that are rusted and I only rounded out the inside. I'll drill the heads off if the needs arises. But I did see the switch along the right side. The new PTO and seat switches took care of my problems.
