CTPhil 53 #1 Posted October 19, 2012 Hi everyone, new guy, first post. I need a belt for my 314-A, the long one that goes from the engine pulley to the mower deck. I've been Googling my brains out trying to find one, or at least specs, but all roads seem to lead to the 5/8x82" belt that drives the blades. Does anyone know a part number or width/length on the belt in question? Thanks in advance!
bowtieguy 334 #2 Posted October 19, 2012 It would help if you posted the model number of your Wheel Horse and the deck size....BUT I guessed that your 314-A "might be" a 1985 model 21-14KE01 of which the tractor drive belt would be WH belt # 108501 (HB/5L x 81.50" lenght)...note: HB indicates an Agricultural belt and measures 21/32"x 13/32". This info is from the Toro/Wheel Horse Drive Belt Usage Chart #492-0392, a 94 page chart which can be ordered from your local Toro dealer....or at least if WAS available a few years ago! Note that this belt is for the TRACTOR drive belt, not the MOWER drive belt. The mower deck model would be needed to determine the correct spindle drive belt and the mower drive belt numbers. But for reference, if your mower model number is 05-42MS04,(a 42"cut) the spindle belt is 6738 (HA/4L x 86.00") and the mower drive belt is 102742 (HA/A x 103.00")....HA indicates an agricultural belt 1/2' x 5/16". If your deck is a 48" cut the spindle belt number is a different number... I'm sure other members will direct you to a belt cross reference file in case you do not want to buy WH belts from Toro....which is good as I have also used belts from TSC and NAPA....all depends on where you want to spend your $$$$'s!! PS...I think you will like your 314-A Horse...great tractor for pushing snow also! I have found that WH belts outlast other belts....but thats just my thoughts as some other WH gurus probably will agree!!
CTPhil 53 #3 Posted October 19, 2012 Thanks for the thoughtful and detailed post! I'll get the model # as soon as it stops raining. It is indeed a 1985. We've had this one for a while and yes it's an awesome machine! <edit> That 102742 103" belt looks like it will probably be the one.
CTPhil 53 #4 Posted April 30, 2013 Well i'm back. The 103" belt I bought last Fall is too long. I took off the failed belt and in it's stretched out condition it measures 97 1/2". I remember when I put it on, it seemed like it could have been shorter, the adjuster was all the way out even with the new belt. At this point I'm willing to guess. If the old failed belt was 97 1/2", how much might it have stretched? And going from there, how much shorter could it be to get in a better place adjustment wise? I'm just soliciting opinions, I won't hold anyone accountable if I get another wrong belt, lol. Thanks.
