It probably is a 1962 or early 63 but no way to tell what model by the serial no. post so pics when you can and we can go from there.

i will get them hopefully this evening Kelly. It looks to me to have the 63-64 style front axle and mount, its missing the original hood and belt guard. The engine is a newer briggs but it did come with a nice 61 suburban hood, fenders and toolbox. It does have what appears to be the original toolbox and fenders on it though.

3 bolt or 5 bolt hubs? 3 spoke or 2 spoke steering wheel? get a pic of the tool box they changed styles in early 63, is the lift handle bolted in like newer tractors?

62-24027 is a 1963 serial number between 62-23960 and 62-24063 which are both thought to be model 753's.

Kinda hard to see from the small pictures Jim, but the butchered gas tank, the hoodstand and the front axle all point to being a 63 on tractor.

Garry is probably right with his serial # reasoning.

thanks Mike that was my thoughts too,now is there way to distinguish betwwen a 633,653 and a 753 without having the engine? ( we know its not a 603)

It is for sure a 1963, you can rule out the 633, that was a pull start Kohler and they put the serial tag over the key switch hole, and your tag is below that, it looks to have a key switch in it, does it look orig.? a 653 would have had a key switch that had a start position and a run position, the 753 would have a key switch for on and off and a push button to start it.

it does have what looks to be the original switch in it,it takes the two prong key and it has the hole for the push button starter.now on another note, notice the trim rings on the rear wheels.where did 12 inch trim rings come from...
