Need some help, what year

Just picked these two up today, one is suppose to be a rj58 and the other a 61 suburban. They do not have the correct motor but the did come with them, both need to be rebuilt. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You are correct, the first one is a RJ58, too bad they cut the hood, and the second is a 1961 551

Thanks for your help, i looked all over both tractors and can not find a ID tag. Was the 551 a electric start and what went in the dash where the hole is. I did find a manual for the 58 on the site to download but need to find one for the 551.

I hope to restore both of the them in the near future , so any help or advice will be appreciated, i will also appoligize in advance for all the question i know i will have.

I will post more pics when we start.

The 551 would have come with an electric start Lauson/Tecumseh H55.

That hole in the hood should have a sheetmetal hole plug and the key switch would be mounted in the center of it.

The fenders on it are installed backwards

This newer pic gallery sucks because it's harder to find the pics you want but you can look around in there for a 551 which shows the plug and key switch
