soofoodude 6 #1 Posted October 11, 2012 My dead 523dxi was the result of a dead short in the electric clutch that kept burning out fuses. Ohm meter pegged out when checked. Can these be rebuilt? or rewired? New replacement is almost $500 - ouch!! The unit has about 550 hrs on it. Thanks for any assistance.
Save Old Iron 1,571 #2 Posted October 11, 2012 if the casing can be taken apart, the coil can be wound for less than $80. it is possible the wiring could be shorted to the housing at the point of entry into the housing. the coil could easily be salvaged and the unit repaired by removing the shorted wire from contact with the housing. soofoodude 6 #3 Posted October 11, 2012 Thanks a heap - Just what I was wanting to know. What else should I rebuild while I have it apart? Are there clutch "kits" or something?
