info on pond walk behinds

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, There is a pond walk behind for sale, somewhat near me and wanted to know some info about it, and what this one would be worth. Owner said valve is stuck open, and I'm not sure if the gearbox works or not. Thanks, Jake

Looks to be for the most part, original. The motor is a Briggs Model 8. I am in the process of rebiulding a Model 8 and can tell you that parts are not the easiest to find, so check the motor over good. If it needs an over-bore, pistons are price-ie. I have a contact for Model 8 parts if you need them.

As for value, IMO they are all over the place ranging from $100 to $300. I would call this one $200?

I would say that the tractor itself is probably worth $200 but the mower I would think would be worth another $100-200. I've not seen any attachments for sale and have been looking for some for my walker. I'm sure others know more than me, but I would think the mower is fairly rare.

Looks like a good candidate for a rebuild transmission is about as simple as could be to rebuild just a chain and a few sprockets. That sickle bar alone is a treasured item especially if the wobble box still works, stuck cutter bars can be freed up easy enough.

Thanks for the info on this guys. i think I am probably going to pass on this one. I'd really like to own one of these but this one is not that great of a deal, and I don't think I could get my dad to make the trip anyways. Jake
