ple1969 1 #1 Posted September 24, 2012 I just picked up a 520H this weekend and at a minimum I want to change the Oil (engine and trans). I'm confused to what filter to buy. For the oil my research on Red Square I came with with either the NAPA 1762 (WIX 51762) or NAPA 1374 (WIX 51374) . What is the difference between these? For the Hydro I'll just stick the the wheelhorse filter. Thanks for your help! Pete

sorekiwi 761 #3 Posted September 25, 2012 Without going and checking which number is which, there is a long filter and a short one. Both will fit on my 91 520-H, but I have read that some people have problems installing the long one due to clearance issues. My tractor doesnt have the gear reduction steering, maybe that is the difference? The short filter only sticks through the engine shroud by about 1/2 an inch which makes it a little more awkward to grab hold of to remove. Because of this I use the long one, with the added advantage of a little more oil capacity and a little more surface area on the outside of the filter for a little more cooling. cheesegrader 433 #5 Posted September 27, 2012 I use the 1762. It takes a little bit of force to get it around the tin when removing, but not too much. Seems like you have to turn the filter upside down to get it out 1374 is a much smaller filter. So small that it is hard to get a grip on it when installed, because it is so far inside the shroud. I use a wide funnel underneath when taking the filter off to catch what comes out with the filter. Too tight a space for my oil pans. 4 3/4"length is the absolute maximum length that will fit, and that requires a LOT of force or a little bend in the butt of the filter to make the turn into place.
