ple1969 1 #1 Posted September 24, 2012 Picked this up over the weekend. This was my father-in-laws 520H that he bought new in the mid 90's. Its a bit dirty but it was well maintained and always stored in a shed, never in the weather. Since I have a ZTR for the lawn, this will be used to pull attachments (cart, aerator, sweeper....) and for a snow blower (when I find a 2-stage). When time permits I plan to break it down for a total cleaning and restore. I could not resist the price... it was free Would anyone know the year by looking at the model or serial number? ple1969 1 #13 Posted September 24, 2012 Thanks everyone! I'm excited to have it. I had a 314 back in the 90's so having a wheel horse back in my stable will be fun. About my father-in-law, he passed away 6 years ago so getting his 520 back in the family make this special to my wife and I. This will be a keeper.
leeave96 490 #14 Posted September 26, 2012 Very nice tractor. My FIL gave me his 520H a year or so before he died. I think you will like the swept forward axle version of the 520H and the gear reduction steering too. I think you should fit the tractor with a deck and mow with it from time to time - those zero turn mowers just go to fast. Slow down and enjoy the ride on your WHEELHORSE!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck, Bill
ple1969 1 #15 Posted September 26, 2012 Bill - yes the zero turns go fast but it gives an excellant cut. I mow 2 to 3 times a week ( I love my lawn) so speed is a good thing. However I do plan on taking the 520 out to cut in between the planting beds and trees. This way I get to play with it as well. Here is my lawn:
