k141 regulator

hey guys i just got a free k 141, its all complete except for the regulator i'm planning to put it in my 552. my question is this, i have plenty of spare regulators for my 70's C-160s can i use one of those on the k141 just to try and get it started?

If your engine has a starter/generator, the answer is No. They are two very different parts.

You do not need a reg to start the engine, gas to the carb, power to the + side of the coil, (remember to unhook when not starting or running) touch power to the batt. cable post to spin starter, I think it is the post closest to the engine, oh ya you need a ground from your power source, I start engines on the ground all the time, not even bolted to anything.

I don't think I can start it from the coil. The wires from the points and the plug wire go behind the flywheel to the stator
