I get stuff from the local scrap yards all the time not just tractors but all kinds of stuff, looks like you got a nice one, the axle I'd say is junk, you take it apart and IF you get it straight it is probably cracked, or many hair line cracks waiting to break. get another axle, and check that bearing it may be junk also.

We have a big scrap yard close to my home with an area people can just drop metal items off at. This past weekend I drove by and there was what I believe a Simplicity tractor there (hood missing) but a nice looking Magnum 18 twin on it that I dearly wanted to go back and pull, but I understand the police have been going by and arresting people for taking anything that is left there. Glad the 1056 was saved, sorry it had to get a trashing beforehand. I'm sure the people who work at those places see so much stuff that they no longer have any compassion for anything.

Nice save! Man-o-man how does one bend an axel like that? LOL!

As the old saying goes, "one man's trash is another man's treasure". On one hand I can see why it was destined for the dump, but on the other hand, I can see a nice restoration in the making.

We're going to backup what VinsRJ said, how can just picking up the tractor cause the axle to bend/hub break like that ??!!!

Perhaps a contest is in order !!
