Linger 0 #1 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi, I'm new to Wheel Horse and this forum. I had just purchased a c-100 tractor that looked in great condition but ended up needing some deck work, not too big a deal just welded up some patch pieces. While I was working on it though I noticed that the spindle housings were shot. So my question(s) is where can I source new housing/assembly for a 5-1011 deck without breaking the bank? Are there other models that will interchange? If I can't find reasonable $ parts then I was thinking about replacing the whole deck. What decks would fit this tractor? And one last question (for now ) : What advantages is there for a rear discharge deck verses a side discharge? TIA, Jim

Don1977 605 #5 Posted September 15, 2012 You said the spindle housings were shot I guess they are deteriorated. As for what deck will fit your tractor any later model deck for a Wheel Horse garden tractor will fit. I would stay with the 42" as a 48" will be a bit too much for 10 HP. I have never liked a rear discharge deck a lot of people on the board like them.
Linger 0 #7 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks for the welcome. I'll check Kelly in the vendor section and see if I can get the parts I need, otherwise I might be looking into a "new" deck. So any deck regardless of model will fit? That's good to know. And no I wasn't planning on getting a bigger deck, smaller if I had to. I've never seen a rear discharge deck before so I have no experience with them and have been seeing alot of the for sale. The only advantages I can see with them is I can run a lawn sweeper behind it in the fall to pick up the leaves and also it wouldn't matter which direction I mowed along the gardens. The only problem I can see is having everything thrown at the backside of the tractor.
