Talked with son yest and he casually mentioned a machine someone "gave" him, knowing the giver, there is a BIG catch. Well my son being a V8 person doesn't know single cyl even though tried teachin' him. He said it's a Kohler, think it's a 12 hp. Man, I perked up as you don't see many recycles down here. He said, thinking of canging out to a B&S 16 cause K has no compression according to Gerry (my grandson). I laughed and said when Gerry was lookin' at my 13yr idle not used C-120, he said papa, got a stuck valve I can turn it with my hand (on screen). I laughed said you could be right but K has compression release to accomodate easier rotation on starting. He looked with disbelief as I smiled.

Well he forgot, I laughed again today, got the old manual, and gave Gerry home work and explained ACR and hopefully we'll get a K241, rope star, magneto struttin' some stuff.

Now for the rest of the story. it's on a welder. Good Day

You read it everywhere... my Kohler K-xxx started running bad, so I did a compression check and only got 60 PSI so it must be whipped, so I started ripping it apart.....

If you want to have even more fun, try to explain to him how the ACR cam lobe works

Gonna tell you, he understood that well, Some small engine stuff, he amazes me on. He just DIDN"T SAVE IT TO his hard drive. Can wait till we start diagnosin on the K. Am gonna start with some old (know working swaps) and gonna just love in when that thing fires up. His grin will prob rip his face. Am wantin' badly to get both them into workin' on these machines.
