Recommended Posts

Shuboxlover

Well, I was tilling the garden this evening with the D-160 and all of a sudden the tiller stopped, first I thought the belt broke (BTW, anyone have a dimension of the PTO belt?) Anyway, looked back and saw the driveshaft hanging there **%&#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I get a new one???

Can I get it rebuilt???

What are my options???

Thanks

Ebay has one for $500 :hide: or did !

That is the only one I have seen for sale.

On the second pic is that jb weld repair?

Find you a GOOD machine shop, they might be able to help.

Any way , good luck. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Second pic is where is wore the yolk...no JB!!!

I'm going to take it to our local drive-shaft/radiator shop and see what they can do, a couple years ago they put U-joints in my 56' and it only cost me $18. Hopefully I can get lucky like that again.

I do know that I'm NOT going to spend $500 on one!!!

I'm no expert on D series stuff bit I would start at your local farm store chances are you can at least get the yokes and have them welded to the original shafts

Tractor Supply should have just what you need, and a weld shop to weld the new parts to the shaft. Good Luck.

The cross apears to be a Weasler W series. The pin should be 9/16 and from the end of one pin to the end of the other pin should be 2 13/32. If it is somebody that deals with weasler or a place like TISCO (tractor implement supply company) or A&I should be able to get them. Its a category O pto part so not many people have them and the tractor supply that i go to doesnt carry cat. O parts and when I asked about them I was told if they dont have it they cant get it. If you dont have any luck finding parts let me know and I can see what it would cost from tisco as I am a dealer for them or see if I can find out if there is a tisco dealer near you as I'm in MA. They also list both yokes that you have in the first picture. Hope this helps

There are lots of sources for universal joints.

Check out all the ones on eBay.

A machine shop should be able to replace the u joint or fix it.

Well, I'm up and running....I ended up upgrading the knuckle to a "true" u-joint.....fully greasable, serviceable, AND replaceable.

I donated some of the parts for the rebuild.....it ended up costing me $65. Better than the $130 it would of if I didn't have some parts to donate to it.

Now I'm just worried about the rear one :eusa-think:
