kodiak 5 #1 Posted September 9, 2012 I just recently purchased a lawn ranger with a tecky hh60 it has a diode charging system that i have never dealt with. To my undrstanding they say to remove one diode if you run it for extended periods of time. Seeing as i am restoring it for my daughter can you install a regulator in the system to control the charge.
pfrederi 18,764 #2 Posted September 9, 2012 I doubt very much that you will have a problem leaving both diodes in place, unless you daughter is planning on running it for 1-2 or more hours at a time at near full throttle. I do not think there is any simple regulator system that could be designed for it.
AMC RULES 37,220 #3 Posted September 9, 2012 I've recently had mine running with both diodes in place, at WOT, for well over an hour with no problems at all.
wallfish 18,343 #4 Posted September 9, 2012 I believe the charge is at 3 amps with both diodes in place. It's not regulated so it is possible to overcharge the battery if it's run for very long periods of time. Cutting that in half by removing one of the diodes will prevent this. I never had a problem leaving both in on mine either. ( That was noticed )
