brandon32269 2 #1 Posted September 4, 2012 I just recently bought a WH A-100. The starter was bad in it so I ordered a new one and got a new battery. I put them in and it started right up. I rode it around slowly for a few minutes then it stalled out. Now it won't start. it just clicks when you turn the ignition. I used to be able to turn the head of the engine and hear the compression. But now I can't move it at all. Im so confused on why its doing this. brandon32269 2 #6 Posted September 4, 2012 The guy i bought it from started it up when i bought it and said its hit and miss with the starter. When i got home i fried the starter. The battery was junk so i bought battery and starter. It started up an ran good right after i put them in. Everything appears to be fine besides the point that i cant turn it over with my hands. brandon32269 2 #11 Posted September 5, 2012 Ive checked everything. The motor just wont turn over. It turns over when i tighten the bolt back on top off the engine but you cant by hand. Therefore theres no way the starter can turn it over. Im about done with this thing. This is my first wheel horse an i get it runnin and it just dies on me. Most likely going to be my last. roscoemi 245 #14 Posted September 6, 2012 Can you turn it over by hand if the spark plug is removed? Did it run low on oil and the piston rings get stuck to the cylinder? In the past I have removed a cylinder head and smacked the piston with a piece of wood to solve this kinda problem on a Briggs motor. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

But if i put a socket on the bolt on just under the mesh on the top on the engine it will turn but theres no way a starter would be able to push it tht hard to turn it over Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Ed Kennell 42,122 #16 Posted September 6, 2012 Check that the belts are free on the motor pulley. If free and you still can't turn it, chuck your socket in a 1/2 " variable speed drill and run it till it starts or locks up. At least you'll know where the problem is. Kelly 1,033 #17 Posted September 6, 2012 I see your in MI where at? if you close I might be able to help, it sounds like the engine is siezed up, I have a lawn tractor like yours and the carb leaks gas in the oil when not running if I don't shut the gas off, and if I was to run it with gas in the oil I'm sure it would not run long. You need to get a real WH a Garden tractor with a Kohler a much better tractor, not just a lawn mower. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
