Question about Belts for cutting Deck on a C-121

Recommended Posts

Alfienoalkes

Hello,

Been looking all morning for the answer with no luck, so I hope someone can help.

I have a 1978 C121 with a 42inch rear discharge cutting deck,

at present there is no belts on the tractor apart from the one driving the wheels from the engine.

My question is do I need 1 or 2 belts from the PTO to drive the cutting blades, what serial numbers are the belts and what way do the belts fit around the pullys on the deck.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Cheers

Alfie

The model number on your '78 C-121 should be # 91-12K802 (that dash must be in there to work):

The model number for your mower deck may be # 85-42MR01 or 85-42XR01:

You can go to the TORO web site www.TORO.com and enter the model number under "look up parts".

There is one drive belt from the PTO to the center pulley on the deck, and then one belt on the deck to

drive all three pulleys. At TORO, you can download the schematics & manuals (all free) which show you

the exact belt routing.

It is always best to use real Wheel Horse belts, as they are "AG", (a more heavy duty agricultural Belt),

and usually cost only 20% more for 3-4 times the life; at www.PartsTree.com you can find the belts.
