uidb5259 0 #1 Posted August 28, 2012 I was trying to find a better way to get a finer cut on my lawn clippings. I am using a 42" RD mower deck. I have found that there are no gator blades available for it (Toro Blades 106635). Do you have any other suggestions on how to get the grass mowed down more to avoid the clumping? whfan74 2,015 #2 Posted August 28, 2012 Of course I am sure you are running sharp blades. Make sure to cut when dry......with all of the humidity we have been having lately, it takes a long time to get things dried out during the day. Also mowing a little more regularly might help......if you aren't able to then cut it twice going in a different direction the second time. Rear discharge mower decks are known for throwing it out in a row. Not sure what else to tell ya.......I am sure there is more input coming that I haven't thought of already. CasualObserver 3,406 #3 Posted August 28, 2012 You could try getting longer bolts for your blades and double them up at 90 degrees. Gets you 12 cutting surfaces instead of 6. I know there are some guys who've done it. Otherwise you pretty much have to cut twice as often so you're cutting a smaller length of the grass growth.
