MaineDad 85 #1 Posted July 20, 2008 Guys, Could a leaking Hydraulic cylinder cause the problems of my C-160 tranny? It looks to be leaking real bad so I took it off and have to clean it up. There is a hydraulic repair shop near by that can probably rebuild it for me so it will not leak. Not sure if air was escaping from it though. Just wondering... kj4kicks 151 #2 Posted July 20, 2008 It would need to be a pretty severe leak to cause the problem directly. However, if it lets the fluid get too low, that's a possibility.
BPjunk 184 #3 Posted July 20, 2008 Micah, Unless the hydraulic fluid is pouring out from a leaking seal (and the seal should not leak until the cylinder is used) the fluid power to the transmission should not be effected. The spool valves will not let the fluid go to the cylinder until they are controlled to do so. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va.
