Hi--I like them... ----but---- the Briggs motors don't get the respect the Onans and Kohlers do and it does affect the re-sale value. The briggs flat twins are good solid engnes as long as you don't over rev them and keep the oil clean and full---a touch over full is actually helpful as these Briggs suffered from rod oiling starvation going up or down steep inclines---just like the seres 1 Kohler KT 17's. If it was me I wouldn't hestate to do it......... but if you have plans of selling the unit in the future you made end up with less money. If you decide to go with somethng other than the Briggs I would be interested in the engine.

Tony

I really like them. I have a 16HP and an 18HP. They have a ton of power and with good maint, will last long.

If you have a good running engine to use, by all means do so. A rebuilt P220 block or any new repower engine will be in the $1500 range, so any good running used engine that will fit and have the power is definitely a wise choice for the wallet on a tractor you intend to use and not be worried so much about collector or resale value.
