keitholdcar 17 #1 Posted August 11, 2012 I am looking to find parts sources for my old Wheel Horses. My local dealer has been sold, and the new owners just want to sell new stuff.I have a 10604 Charger 12 that I bought new,and a C-160 I use now and then.Right now I am in need of a center pulley for a 5-1210 deck. The part # is,6692.It now subs to a new #,106847,but it does NOT fit.No matter how many times the parts man tells me it is the one,it won't go.I had a number of contacts with dealers around the country,in the last 10 years they have all gone out.(retired) I'm not much of a computer person,I have a hard time searching for some things.Thanks. keitholdcar 17 #3 Posted August 11, 2012 Thanks.I've sent messages to both. This is my regular use tractor,in this humidity the grass is jumping out of the ground. The local dealer is no longer of much help.I doubt they will be handling Toro/Wheel Horse for long. There is a whole showroom full of Husqvarna mowers and a couple of Toro commercials back in the corner. Shuboxlover 480 #4 Posted August 11, 2012 According to the Toro MPV, the part number you need is 6756 (sub 106848)..........Looks like Toro wants about $125 for them....OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
keitholdcar 17 #5 Posted August 11, 2012 Now that's interesting. My parts book, that I have been using since 1973,tells me the number I need is 6692.Toro subs that to an 106847.I bought that one yesterday,at $106.60 but it does not fit.The only thing the same about it is the shaft size and configuration.I bought one about 15 years ago,it still has 6692 in magic marker on it.The two outside pulleys used to be # 5877,they have been subbed to 106849 but they fit.The Toro MPV prices seem rather high. The cups at the bottom of the spindles, part # 102784 are $61.at the dealer,Toro MPV has them listed at over $90. Don1977 605 #6 Posted August 11, 2012 I guess the spindle has been changed if it doesn't fit. There are three different types for a 42" or 48" decks they all bolt up to the deck with the same holes. There is Double D the shaft has two flat sides. Then 3/4" keyed, last is metric and the pulley is 5/8" with out a key. The last two used the same blades and same spindle housing. I have had all three types on my deck in the last 35 years. Part numbers don't mean much on old decks as the spindles have been changed by the company over the years. What type of spindles have you got on the deck and what type of pulley did you get from Toro? Sound like the part was numbered wrong.
keitholdcar 17 #7 Posted August 11, 2012 This deck has been on the tractor since new, when I was in high school.I always bought the correct parts for it,just because I had the parts book and didn't want to go down the road of mix and match.I've also always kept bearings, shaft, spacers, cups, blades and spring washers for the blade hold-on bolts.Yesterday I bought two new shafts, one was bad and I usually keep a spare.I also have always kept a spare outside pulley on hand.I have the double D configuration. It is on both ends of the shafts.A year ago I had to buy a new quill housing,it was about $116. I was tempted to change it over to a different type as I have a set of keyed spindles I took out of a rusted deck.I resisted because I have so many new spare parts around for what I am using.I bought six sets of blades on a closeout for $11.per set.Actually five sets, when I got them I found a set for a 42 inch deck in the pile.
