Anyone with Toro/Wheel Horse 268-H experience?

Recommended Posts

I have been offered a nice 2001 268-H for a reasonable price. Anyone have experience (good or bad) with this model? All I know is that it has the CV18S Kohler engine, hydromatic tranmission, and a cup holder.

Any info will be appreciated.

I have most of a 244H that someone gave me awhile back, pretty much the same just lower horsepower, never had it running officialy but put a motor in it temporarily to test the tranny. I do know that there were two tranny's used an Eaton or a TuffTourque and you want the Eaton

Make sure the hood at the hinge area is not broken, try the elect. clutch out, make sure the engine is sound, and if you can get the trans warm, see if it is sluggish, I mow with a 246H V twin briggs, 42" SD deck, it does a good job as a mower, oh ya check the steering out, they all seem to be on the sloppy side.

I believe this one is equipped with a Hydro-gear 330-3000

Kelly - thanks for the advice.

I had a 269H that I got from the scrap yard and needed quite a bit of work. It had tilt steering, hydro lift, tuff-torque trans, cruise, 52" deck and 48" snow plow. It was a real pain to change the drive belt and the deck was not as nice as the older decks IMO. It was nice though to mow with as it did have the foot controls :eusa-think:., Sold it earlier this summer.
