Fordiesel69 270 #1 Posted August 8, 2012 Looking at a wheel horse with one of these about 566 hours. Looks very nice, but how are these engines in comparison to the K-series / Magnums?
MarkPalmer 81 #2 Posted August 8, 2012 The Command engines are supposedly rated as a 2000 hour engine, and I have seen quite a few of the twin cylinder Commands running well with over 2000 hours on them. My parents have a Command single on their cheapo Craftsman tractor that is about 20 years old and is in great shape with nothing more than regular maintenance. The Commands don't really have the multiple time rebuildablity of the K/Magnums, but the OHV designs do have a little advantage in reduced fuel use. The only Kohlers to definitely stay away from IMHO are the Courage, they are only rated as a 750 hour life engine and catastrophic failure videos of them are easy to find on Youtube. -Mark-
