B-80 gets a K341

[WoodMotorsports 3]

I've got my slap apart surveying the damage and repairs needed. That left a good running k341 sitting in the floor of the garage right beside my B-80. You can guess what happened next. Didn't take many project photo's because it was pretty much a bolt in. I did have to mod the belt cover because the 160 is an auto with the larger engine pulley.

Busted out the spot weld cutter:

Slotted one mounting hole a bit:

And bolted it back on:

I'll finish the guard shortly, but there is another pulley change in the old girls future. I was hoping for a bit more of a road gear speed with the larger front pulley, but it didn't amount to much. Going to track down a 4" for the transmission this week. The current setup needed an 84" belt. It definitely made steering a bit stiffer with the much heavier motor up front. I do think it would make a pretty good stock class puller with very little work.

Boy,both of the tractors look good with the BIG BLOCK KOHLERS, Bet they use up a B-80 tank full of gas pretty quick.

Great work! I should be so diligent, tend to rush the paint jobs too often.

What material was used on the foot rests?

I used coarse Skateboard grip tape, cut it with a paper cutter, self-adhesive.

Been holding up for a couple of months with not a sign of wear or the adhesive failing.

Inexpensive and durable, worked well for me on a '73 12 hp automatic.

I used 3M grip tape from the Home Depot. Its the stuff they use on steps so you don't slip, and I used the originals as a template to cut out the new ones. They've been on there for 6 months now, and are holding up great!

Thanks Matt, I'm going to try the 3M from Home Cheapo, very close to me.

I need to pickup some RustOleum Crystal Clear to top off the Regal Red too. Thought I might give it a shot.

The Regal Red looks great on the grandchildren's Radio Flyer too!
